On 13 May 1897, Guglielmo Marconi (Italian inventor) and George Kemp (, Cardiff Post Office engineer) transmitted the first wireless signals over open sea from Flat Holm Island to Lavernock Point, Wales. Following in these footsteps, this data physicalisation proposes to transmit data from the island to the mainland. This rich historical event is of interest to us from a conceptual, aesthetic and technical perspective.

How to physicalise the ‘signal’. Could a form of signal/ radio wave be represented every time the data updates from the island? For example, the flip dot canvas turns to noise before each data update or circular lights projected and appearing around the base of the lighthouse or from the light beam (top of lighthouse) every time new data appears.
